A Passionate Family, Determined Committee, Worthy Cause and PGA TOUR Pro Sean O'Hair
Released: May 19, 2010
A little more than seven years ago, the Benton family was changed forever. Despite the heroic efforts of the doctors, nurses and medical support teams at The Chester County Hospital, they lost their first son, Henry, during childbirth. To keep his spirit alive, the Bentons of Downingtown developed an endowment program in Henry's memory through The Chester County Hospital Foundation. The endowment benefits neonatology and maternal-health programs.
Partnering with the Hospital and other sponsors, the Bentons founded The Chester County Hospital Invitational to benefit health services for women and children in 2007. The outing has since raised more than $60,000 in net proceeds. In accord with Henry's endowment, those charitable dollars have helped in the procurement of advanced medical technology serving the Hospital's tiniest patients and their families.
This year, the Bentons are teaming up with the Willistown Branch of the Women's Auxiliary to The Chester County Hospital. For 24 years, the Willistown Auxiliary has hosted the FORE Health Golf Tournament and in that time it has raised more than $800,000 in support of the Hospital for capital improvements and patient services. As daughters, sisters and mothers, the Women's Auxiliary is happy to join the Benton Family and PGA Tour Professional Sean O'Hair in creating a great day of golf for a cause they hold dear. Now united as one outing, the new and improved tournament, named the FORE Health Invitational, will take place on June 7, 2010 at White Manor Country Club.
"My family and I are proud to partner with the Willistown Auxiliary and we are delighted that Sean O'Hair will join us again for the 2010 event," said Andy Benton, chair of the event. "Like so many of us connected to the event, Sean and his family are residents of Chester County and have children who were born at The Chester County Hospital. We are all looking forward to a wonderful day of golf and goodwill for such a cause close to our hearts." Sean will provide a golf demonstration for all participants and will entertain questions from our premier sponsors during a corporate luncheon.
As the FORE Health Invitational continues to grow, the proceeds will be used to support the immediate goals of Women's Health, Pediatrics and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Chester County Hospital and the long-term health needs of the community.
Past proceeds of the Invitational have helped:
The FORE Health Invitational represents the union of two distinct golf outings - the FORE Health Golf Tournament and The Chester County Hospital Invitational. The FORE Health Invitational featuring PGA TOUR Professional Sean O'Hair combines the women auxiliary's drive with family passion. Drive and passion: two critical elements for a successful game of golf.
