Hospital Welcomes New Breast Surgeon

Catherine Plzak, MD(West Chester, PA) - The Chester County Hospital and Health System is pleased to welcome Catherine Plzak, M.D., F.A.C.S. Dr. Plzak, an accomplished surgeon who specializes in breast cancer patients, joins fellow breast surgeon Dr. Pamela Scott at The Women's Specialty Center at The Chester County Hospital.

Dr. Plzak is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and went on to complete an internship in general surgery at Bryn Mawr Hospital and a residency in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She has served as attending surgeon and Director of the Short Procedure Unit at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and was in private practice at Bryn Mawr Hospital. In addition, Dr. Plzak was an assistant professor of surgery at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and a clinical assistant professor of surgery at Thomas Jefferson university Hospital.

Certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Plzak previously served as Medical Director of St. Mary's Breast Center in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Before that she was the founding Medical Director of the Breast Center as Chesapeake Regional Medical Center in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Dr. Plzak's experience adapting a multidisciplinary team approach to treat breast cancer complements the compassionate care practiced at the Women's Specialty Center at The Chester County Hospital. Under her care, women will have access to the diagnosis and treatment and follow up of breast conditions in a personalized setting. The Women's Specialty Center was conceived, designed and developed by women for women. At the Center they will be provided with timely scheduling, consultation, diagnosis, and surgery, if needed. Dr. Plzak's interest is to continue to promote breast health and to improve the support and services for women at high risk for breast cancer.
