National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP)

One in three adults lives with prediabetes. If you have prediabetes, you are 5-15 times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes. The National Diabetes Prevention Program showed that type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed with a healthy lifestyle. If you are at high risk, or already have prediabetes, you can attend this year-long program which includes 16-weekly sessions followed by 6-8 monthly sessions AT NO CHARGE!

To participate in the NDPP, a person must be overweight and have prediabetes, or be at high risk.

High risk is defined as having a combination of risk factors such as:

  • being overweight or obese (BMI >24, or >22 if Asian)
  • family history of diabetes
  • gestational diabetes
  • inactivity
