"The Chester County Hospital is a real asset to the community. I found their demonstrable focus on quality and genuine attention to patients and their families to be commendable. I consider it a rare privilege to carry on the work led so ably for decades by Perry." ~ Michael J. Duncan
The Chester County Hospital and Health System is pleased to welcome Michael J. Duncan as its new President and CEO. Mr. Duncan succeeds H. L. Perry Pepper who concluded his 34 year career at the Hospital on Friday, April 29, 2011.
Named following a nationwide search that concluded in March, Mr. Duncan comes to the Hospital from ColumbiaDoctors where he served as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the 1200-physician faculty practice plan based in New York City.
Mr. Duncan is a 1978 graduate of The Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. There, he earned The Navy League Award for graduating first in his class in his major, and the Admiral McKee Award for outstanding leadership. Upon his graduation he served as a nuclear engineer in the United States Submarine Fleet, teaching submarine tactics to senior officers.
"The Chester County Hospital and Health System is fortunate to have attracted a candidate in Michael Duncan who is so thoroughly aligned with our Mission as a community-based organization," states Mr. William W. Wylie, Jr., Chairman of the Health System Board of Directors and Chair of the CEO Search Committee. "His experience, intellect and leadership skills will be important assets for us in this rapidly evolving healthcare environment, and will complement the strong administrative team already in place."
