The Chester County Community Foundation, Inc. and The Chester County Hospital (CCH) are pleased to announce the completion of a significant challenge grant to support the new Women's Specialty Center at The Chester County Hospital. A challenge grant of $250,000 was initiated by the donor advisors to the Patricia C. and John Celii, Jr. Medical Research Fund, administered by the Chester County Community Foundation. The challenge was met by an anonymous benefactor of The Chester County Hospital with a gift of equal size donated directly to The Chester County Hospital Foundation. In total, The Chester County Hospital is the recipient of $500,000 in philanthropic support which will provide critical funding for the launch of the Women's Specialty Center at The Chester County Hospital.
The Women's Specialty Center will address a woman's needs related to breast care, gynecologic/oncology, urogynecology and genetics counseling. Scheduled to open in February 2009, the Women's Specialty Center is located in The Chester County Hospital's Fern Hill Campus in West Chester, PA. Also in the Fern Hill Campus is the Women's Imaging Center and Pathology, thus providing one location to address diagnosis and treatment. It is with a woman in mind that the Women's Specialty Center was designed by creating a nice, relaxing environment with a patient-centered care design where a woman can meet with her physician, learn about the plan of care, have testing done and prepare for treatment.
"We are happy that our initial challenge grant was met, it was our goal to provide a significant incentive to launch this important project by providing seed money to inaugurate the new Women's Specialty Center," said John Celii. Pat Celii continued,"We are very excited that the Chester County Hospital has placed a priority on providing an innovative and state of the art environment for women patients who face various illnesses. These efforts will benefit both current and future patients and we are pleased to be a part of this initiative."
H.L. Perry Pepper, President and CEO of The Chester County Hospital and Health System, commented, "We are very appreciative of the Celii Family's generous gift and that of our anonymous benefactor who provided a separate matching gift. Through their leadership we will establish the Women's Specialty Center at our Fern Hill Campus in West Chester. The Women's Specialty Center will be unique to the region in that it has been designed to meet the comprehensive health care needs of women in a convenient and beautiful space."
